Figma: a masterclass in the go-to platform for every digital project

Figma, een masterclass in het go-to platform voor elk digitaal project

At Comma, our designers don’t just see Figma as another tool. For them, it's where their ideas take shape. Everything happens in a single shared environment, from the first sketch to the final design ready for development, offering a host of benefits for both designers and customers.

So, what exactly is Figma?

Figma is a browser-based design platform. This means that there is no need to install it as it works in the cloud. There are no version conflicts and you never have to ask yourself, “What were our latest files again?” Everyone can work together in real time on the same file, whether they’re in Zedelgem or on the other side of the world. This is a huge advantage for us and our customers, who like to follow our progress and provide feedback.
The popular design programme is constantly evolving and already comprises several components, each with its own focus. In this blog, we’ll explain what designers like to use them for.

Figma Design: the core of our design work

Figma Design is where our designers spend most of their time. It’s our favourite tool for designing websites, apps and other digital interfaces, from wireframes and prototypes to fully developed UI designs.

Particularly the combination of a design system, reusable components and auto-layout makes Figma Design extremely powerful. In practice, this mainly results in less repetition, greater consistency and faster turnaround times. If a customer asks for a button colour to be changed, a single action is all it takes to apply the change consistently across the board.

What’s more, Figma Design isn’t just a tool for designers; it also ensures a seamless transition to development. Our developers can read the correct dimensions, colours and code snippets directly from the file. This avoids lengthy briefings and misunderstandings, saving everyone a lot of time. And if something goes wrong, the automatic version history always lets you easily revert to a previous version. Phew!

Figma Make: van design naar interactie

Figma Make is the latest addition to the Figma ecosystem. It allows to build interactive experiences from designs without necessarily having to code. It offers an interesting way to bring concepts to life faster, letting customers really experience how a product will work before development even begins.

Figma Buzz: bulk creation without the headache

Anyone who has ever had to create a series of twenty social media posts, each with a different image and text, knows how time-consuming that can be. Figma Buzz is the perfect solution. With fixed templates and a structured approach, multiple variants can be generated in one go. Quite handy for campaigns, adverts and any project where consistency and volume go hand in hand!

Figma Jam: thinking, brainstorming and co-creating

Figma Jam is our digital whiteboard. We love using this visual workspace for workshops, brainstorming sessions and strategic exercises, both internally and with customers. It’s accessible, creates visually appealing diagrams and encourages collaborative thinking and organising ideas. Sticking Post-its on a screen has never felt so satisfying.

Figma Slides: presenting from the same ecosystem

Finally, there’s Figma Slides. Creating interactive presentations on the same platform that you use for design has clear advantages: everything looks consistent, you can easily access and use the latest design elements and you won’t waste time exporting and reformatting.

The bottom line? For Comma, Figma is so much more than just a software platform. It guides us in the way we collaborate, test ideas, engage customers and deliver high-quality work, faster and smarter than ever. Whether it’s a new website, a mobile app or a complete brand identity that needs to be translated into the digital realm: Figma can handle it.
